Every time guests step onto a superyacht it is an event. An event which involves managing staff, suppliers, budgets and the entire guest experience. Senior interior crew for example Pursers, Chief Stews and Head of Interior will have a wealth of experience of running events or various descriptions, often at very short notice. This could vary from a dinner party for 12 to an after party at Monaco Grand Prix for 200 guests with live entertainment. Their responsibilities can include ordering food and beverage, logistics and travel, liaising with shore-based suppliers for AVIT, decorations, floristry, glass ware and all the assorted extras! They would also be responsible for hiring temporary catering/ waiting staff and sometimes security all while managing the budget, negotiating with suppliers, sometimes whilst in the middle of nowhere with a poor phone signal!
